A note of thanks

                                  A NOTE OF THANKS

It is always hard to say farewell. Eight weeks ago, we were students entering the course on Early childhood studies,  each of us had goals we worked toward. We became colleagues, then a community; a community of support and sharing. As colleagues though we live all over North, South( I live in Mississippi),West and East regions of the United States. We learned details of our lives through discussions and responses those little details allowed us to be close. I have enjoyed the  Blog  especially the one on childhood memories and Childhood web.

“Only you can control your own drive towards accomplishing your goals. Continue to posses the inner strength to be a success and you will prevail.” Beyond the quote

“Imagination is more important than knowledge” Albert Einstein
“Having  the education and professional background about a specific topic is a tremendous asset. But being able to come up with alternate solutions based on the creativity of your brain is  also truly rewarding”   Beyond the Quote

To each colleagues and Dr Longo  thank you for your insights and gentle reminders.

Examining code of ethics

                                           Examining code of ethics

What are the ideals that captured my interest  in the NAEYC article, they are:

To be familiar with the knowledge base of early childhood care and education and to stay informed through continuing education and training. To create and maintain safe and healthy setting that, foster children social, emotional, cognitive and physical development, and respect the dignity and their contributions.    My professional goals are to put the children first in planning class schedule and teaching the child.

Division of Early Childhood has over 240 practices in direct services for children and families.  Their ultimate goal is to improve outcome for young children with disabilities and their families by improving the quality of  services given. They believe that all caregivers should take these practices.  I feel that IDEA Part C will help with new time lines in which each child that is referred must be assessed in 7 days.   I believe that the earlier a child is assessed will improve their chances to learn also, help the teacher  to plan activity for the child.

Word of inspiration and motivation

This week assignment has been one of inspiration because of the people I choose. they are true believers in childcare and early childhood education. This has been a life long  passion for them to improve childcare, health care and   quality early  childhood education. Secretary of State  Hillary Rodham Clinton," we ought to be doing all we can to make it possible for every child to fulfill his or her God given potential."
Lillian G Katz, " As you consider whether or not to move a child  into formal academic training, remember that we want our children to do more than  just learn how to read and write. We want them to learn in such away they become life long readers and  writers. If we push our children to start learning these skills to far ahead of their own spontaneous interest and their capacity, we may sacrifice the long range goal of having them enjoy such pursuits".

After reviewing the video on Passion, I found  that all five of the professionals had one common thread the desire to help children and their families to improve the quality of life and education.
Leticia Lara say " her passion comes from her values and belief" Renatta M. Cooper says" Early Childhood Education is a civil rights issue that gives tools and open up the field and we need a strong child care policy".

Personal Childhood web

As I sit down to write this assignment I could not think of five people that has played an important part in my life as a child. There is my father, Walter. He was in his late forty when I was born. He was a very good provider, and teacher. He is now 94 years old. Willie B is my mother loving and caring. she taught me how to sew, cook and encourage me to get an education. Charlean, my sister she was an only child until our father married my mother. I grew up with two mothers Willie B and Charlean.

Charlean was there to make sure that if someone missed I love you, she would hug me and say it. If there was a play at school she was there to help me focus. If there was a problem at home or school she was there to help comfort me. She was a sister, protector, guardian and mother. She always encouraged us to make good grades in school, then challenge us in college by going back with us.
Then there is as we call her ,Miss Carrie, family friend. She was and still is loving and caring to us. She was quick to fuss, but just as quick to encourage you to be all you can be.
I think that that the people around me as a child meet Bronfenbrenner's ecological theory.

Memory of childhood

It has been a while but I think of  a quote about children my favorite one would be by Art Linkletter, " kids say the  things darnest things.
Childhood is the world of miracle or magic:It is as if  creation rose luminously out of the night, all new and fresh and astonishing. Childhood is over the moment things are no longer astonishing. When the world gives you a feeling of " deja vu". When you are  use to existence, you become an adult.
Eugene Ionesco,present/past/ past present

My favorite book as a child was "Rudolph Red nose reindeer. I like it because everyone made fun of him.Yet he did not fight  with them. Yet on a foggy Christmas eve, Santa ask him to pull his sleigh. this just show that because you may look funny, there is something you can do that is good.

The story of  a child that touch my heart was about a young boy that was seemly growing normally until at the age of ten months he stopped crying or babbling. for the mother and child it was multiple  visits to the doctor. after months of testing he was diagnosed with Ashberger syndrome.
The family came together to make a plan on how to care for this  special child for long term.
Their main goals was for him to learn to talk and communication. To know he is loved and how to care for his self.  Today he is a kindergartner, that if you didn't know him before you would.t  believe this outspoken smart  quick to catch on little boy has ASD.
